Yeah, great article but still, I don’t know if social media is an option for everybody…it depends from company to company, this is what I think.

Great feedback, Alex. I think that is a tricky one. There are definitely cases where social media may not be optimal, like in regulated industries where there is concern that employee sharing of information via social media may violate a law or become a compliance issue. Personally, I think that all (loosely using the word, “all”) companies should at least claim their brand. This is useful in case they need to implement corrective public relations actions (i.e. crisis management). There are better reasons to at least have an existence in social media, but that is one area (the lack of a presence) that could come back and bite a person in a less than ideal situation.

I find that a lot of them can be a big waste for a small business or local business, unless that is all they are using. I know a number of small businesses that do much better using just Facebook or just Twitter to relay information to their customers, than a conventional website, which they may have trouble getting their audience to see.
Although I do not like it, experience has shown me, past clients have had the best luck with Facebook. That is because most of my clients are small business owners and Facebook just so happens to have the larger user base, especially in small community settings.
I love Google+ but I know that not enough people are using it to make it valuable to small business owners.

I agree. There are so many social media platforms to choose from, when selecting the most optimal for your business. Facebook has become such a relationship tool, which helps clients to get to know the brand and the company and the person behind the brand and company. Very good points.
