Deborah says, "Mr. Williams provides some tips for working it on Facebook.. specifically what NOT to do."

Now, on to the article...

Social media platforms have become a staple part of everyday life in a very short space of time. This phenomenal rise has not gone unnoticed by the marketing departments of thousands of small and medium businesses out there. There is a tremendous potential available in using social media as a promotional vehicle for your company, and it seems that more businesses are joining this bandwagon on a daily basis. But there are some guidelines that are best adhered to if you want to make the most of this one billion plus database of possible customers. If you are thinking of jumping onto the social media marketing rollercoaster, please take a few minutes to read this article first.

Get Organised!

Before you get excited about your potential new client base, think hard about the approach you intend to take and work out your goals and long term objective. How many new followers are you aiming to attract each week? How much time do you have every day for social media interactions? Social media strategy is a science in itself and you would do well to read as much information as you can before kicking the project off.

Bigger Isn’t Best!

Instead on trying to get as many followers in a shortest time possible, think more about the quality of your entourage. In order to engage your new group of friends, they should have similar interests and be happy to interact with you. There is no point in having over 10,000 likes if the ‘likers’ never bother to follow this up. It is not about how many visits you get, but it is all about what happens when they get there.

Don’t Spread Yourself Thin

It’s a great idea to have three or four social media accounts for your business, but only if you are prepared to divide your time up equally. Calculate how much time you have available before you create extra social media platform accounts, otherwise you will be wasting valuable time and probably just be going through the motions. If you only have time for one social media account, don’t create two!

Be Modest And Versatile

Okay, your followers are visiting your page because they kind of like you and they have similar interests. But don’t mistake them for people who hang on your every word. Try to steer clear from talking non-stop about how awesome your business is. Engage your followers by asking them about their opinions and interests. Nobody enjoys listening to a big head, and that’s how you will be perceived if you force your commercial interests down their throats.

Don’t Write Poorly

By all means use some slang and colloquialisms, but tread very carefully regarding spelling and grammar. Poor punctuation is another way to alienate educated people, and they will think that you are either a bit stupid or just very careless. Pretty soon nobody will be interested in your hard to read posts and articles. It takes a few minutes to proof read your output, please take care and you will reap the benefits.

There’s More!

By following these tips, you should be able to create an engaging personality online, but remember to check out rival sites for any pointers that may help your business plight – Good Luck!

    Hi, Austin
You are absolutely right. Now almost every people know about social media. It is good platform for earning. It is much better than seo. Because it is less time consuming.
    Thanks

Good point about the “time consuming” aspect. Though, SEO and social media do go hand-in-hand.

Good point regarding not just going for quantity over quality – who cares if you have 10k fake or inactive followers. In the long run, you want an engaged, meaningful, active audience.
