Today's #SocialCafe Chat was about Blogging and Bloggerpreneurs.
This #SocialCafe event sponsored, in part, by our wonderful friends at:
Wow! What an awesome Twitter Chat. They are all awesome, but this one sure included some incredible nuggets of wisdom. It is difficult to limit it to one summary post. That's ok. You can also check out the tweets in the slideshow, above.
It seems clear that blogging, for us, today, is not necessarily what it used to be at the beginning of the century. And, the definition of blogging is somewhat subjective. One thing is clear, that bloggers are passionate about what they do, even if what they do is defined differently from one blogger to another, and by those outside the blogging community.
Blogging is a hybrid of journalING and journalISM. Half personal, half professional. #tbw

I think blogging is evolving.Used to be about opinions.moving more toward substantiated content now - and that's a good thing #TBW
— Donna Anderson (@SheWritesaLot) October 17, 2012
A2. Professional & personal blogs #Tbw
— scherrie d (@thirtymommy) October 17, 2012A2. All of them. Isn't that like asking "what types of books are there?" lol #tbw
— Sarah Hannah Gomez (@shgmclicious) October 17, 2012
Beyond the definition of blogging, there is also still some concern about how bloggers are viewed. Here is an interesting sidebar conversation on that topic.
Bloggers need to understand they lack credibility simply because they're bloggers and they need to make up for that in their content #TBW
— Donna Anderson (@SheWritesaLot) October 17, 2012
I think we're seeing that gradual change and respect developing but as bloggers we have to maintain a professionalism & WANT to grow #tbw
— The Blog Workshop (@TheBlogWorkshop) October 17, 2012
@shewritesalot I think there will come a time when the word "blogger" will not be seen as a dirty word. #tbw
— Missy Diaz (@SuperBlogga) October 17, 2012
We're excited to see a lot of bloggers who are taking their craft seriously. There is room for us all to have fun but be professional #tbw
— The Blog Workshop (@TheBlogWorkshop) October 17, 2012
There are different perks that appeal to different perks. There are some of us who do this for the sheer love of it and stop and ask, "What ARE the perks, anyway?" But, there seems to be a consensus that people enjoy sharing and engaging and building relationships. Not a bad perk at all! And, if you can get freebies and make money at the same time... well, that helps, too!
The dynamics of tech & the web, have created this new field. We are all just along for the ride. #tbw

Great observation by Solveig, when she compares blogging to the printing press. There are many things yet to learn and many of us that can share in the learning, teaching, and, well, sharing! This is a key reason why TheBlogWorkshop.com was born and exists to help others and enjoy the engagement at the same time.
Blogs are the newspapers of 21st century. The Internet is like the invention of the printing press, but more affordable, accessible #TBW

I think blogging can have a personal meaning. I agree with those who have said it’s a blend of personal and business, but I think in the end it depends on the person behind the blog

I like the personal view. Even in a news story, a personal touch is nice, even though a news reporter is supposed to just “report.” It is nice to have that element of personality and to experience it through someone’s writing. Thanks, Luis

I must agree with what was said that blogging can be either personal or for business purpose or it can be a blend of both. But one thing is for sure, it is about passion. Bloggers only write blogs unless they are passionate with what they do regardless of the niche they to write.
