Ten Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Next Trade Show Or Event

Deborah says, "Trade shows and conferences can be a lot of fun and very beneficial for your business. Ms. Young helps to give you some tips on how you can do it right."

Now, on to the article...

When running a booth at a trade show or event, most companies want to get the most out of the experience. Unfortunately, some business owners will spend a lot of time and money planning the event, only to gain few interested buyers. Fortunately, one can create buzz for their company when following these ten simple trade show event tips.

Free items: When handing out promo items, one can create excitement about their company. Ideally, one should give away sunglasses, shirts, coffee mugs or a simple electronic device such as a USB drive. When doing this, a company can create plenty of excitement for their product or idea. Not only that, this is an inexpensive and effective way to get free advertising. Without a doubt, one must hand out interesting and likeable promotional products.

Business cards: When going to a promotional show, some people forget, or run out of, business cards. When this happens, people will have a difficult time in remembering the company information. To keep a person interested, a company should place business cards out on their table and hand them out to every visitor.

Social media: To gain long-term followers, one should post their social media information. In fact, when coupled with a promotion, one can create a solid buzz for their corporation. A giveaway can be something simple like a free soda for anyone who follows the Facebook or Twitter page of the business.

Shirts: Representatives of the company must wear shirts advertising the company and product. When wearing a tactful and comfortable shirt, employees can market the company without doing anything special. To take it further, the business should encourage staff to wear the shirts outside of the convention. With this, the company will get their name out there and increase interest in their product.

Cooler: When at a convention, most people will be thirsty and hungry. If a business can give away a free soda and a snack, the employees can excite potential customers. With this, one can see huge crowds at their booth.

Attractive people: When staffing a booth, the company should hire good-looking models to showcase the products or the idea of the company. Of course, when doing this, one must make sure to train the models in the specifics of the business.

Multiple people: Some companies, in a bid to cut costs, staff the desk with one or two employees. Instead, a business should have multiple employees working at the convention. With this, one will not lose out on potential customers or followers.

Arrive early and leave late: Some corporations only staff their booths during the busy times. While this makes sense in some ways, a company should go out of their way to place representatives at the booths in the early and late hours. When doing this, one can attract potential customers who have nowhere else to visit.

Keep it simple: When making presentations, or discussing the product, one must keep it simple. To do this, the company should showcase their product and answer any questions. With this approach, one will not scare off interested customers.

Name tags: Though a simple thing to do, one must wear a name tag. When creating a connection, one will have an easier time talking to visitors.

When following these ten tips at a convention center, one can create a lot of interest in their product.

This is like a great checklist for trade show! You pointed out all what’s needed. Makes it easier to remember what to look out for these events. It’s about branding everything you have specially people who walks around cos they are already walking advertisement to lead your followers to your booth. Simultaneous social posts of where your booth is at the moment can lure in your followers near the area who might have missed out on your announcements but are willing to pay a visit since it’s just a short walk away. Posting photos of the event realtime would be best.

  • Great article. Thanks for that. In Australia people offer coffee at the trade shows and have loads of people lining up to get their coffee from them. To make the most of the opportunity they get custom paper cups with their logo and marketing message on the cups. The printed paper cups are in their hand for the next 15mins so they can’t miss the message and they walk around the trade show displaying the advertising on them as well. This has been a promotional product idea that has really taken off over hear in the last 5 years for tradeshows with sponsorships of the event coffee cart now a hot ticket item.

  • Sophie says:
