Simple Internet Marketing Strategies to Help Strengthen Your Online Presence

Well, maybe the activities of internet marketing are not new, but they are still essential. Or, we should say some of them are essential. There are also some activities that get missed and some strategies that we should consider again, to ensure that we have them in place for our own online business and brands.

One example of internet marketing knowledge that has survived any business owners understand that maintaining a strong online presence can send their conversion rates through the roof while also expanding their dimension of authority in internet space. What many of these corporate leaders don’t understand is which internet marketing strategies they should be investing in to accommodate the desired outcome.

In the rest of this article, we hope to look at several strategies that can help you make your brand’s online presence a bit better and brighter:

Strategy 1: Online Reputation Management

One particular digital marketing service that business owners should consider investing in is online reputation management (ORM). The ORM strategy is immensely important because it enables business owners to maintain the type of powerful, pristine online image/presence that will more likely prevent prospective customers from turning away from their brand.

Granted, nothing is guaranteed in life, and certainly not online. But, it helps if you put some effort into whatever you can that helps to ensure that the odds are in your favor. Online reputation is one of those such things.

Skilled digital developers can deploy numerous ORM services to keep prospects interested in the brand while assuring them that the product line is reputable. One of those types of services is the act of encouraging satisfied customers to publish positive reviews about the business owner’s brand. Another service is that of utilizing shopping cart ecommerce software that helps people to have a positive experience on which to comment. An example of a company that does just that is 1shoppingcart, providing clients with this type of software.

Strategy 2: Content Marketing

Content is still one of the most successful components of any effective advertising plan. This is the case because your web content provides your prospects with a clear overview of what your brand is all about and what is a part of that brand. There are numerous forms of content that a marketing team might develop and optimize on your behalf. Or, in some cases, you are actually in control of your marketing and that content marketing component.

Some of the forms of content may include:

Digital experts are able to implement all types of strategies to make your content exceptional. An example would be including a compelling call to action near the end of a blog post. This approach makes your content more interactive and conducive to conversion by encouraging your reader/viewer to take an action that will positively impact your brand. An example would be a call to action that reads “Buy Our eBook Before Midnight and Save 50%.”

Social Media Metrics (affiliate) -- Manage your own social media metrics with this plugin. Know your success level and how to grow in social media marketing! I use it and love it. I wouldn't have a blog without this plugin (and I have 50 blogs!)

Strategy 3: Social Media Optimization

In addition to implementing top-notch, customized content marketing services, the professionals of a digital internet marketing firm will likely be able to offer you dynamic social media optimization (SMO) services. Granted that that may not be an acronym that is familiar. But the service of social media optimization is definitely not a new one.

These SMO services empower you to interface with online audiences in an organic, casual way that can really accelerate the business-building process. It is a process that helps you develop strong relationships with your target audience. There are numerous channels that a team of digital experts might use to facilitate this process.

Some of them may include:

An example of an SMO strategy that a team of digital experts might deploy for your company is that of Twitter polls.

Twitter polls involve the digital team publishing a specific question about your product or service line to audiences through the social channel. The target market can then send in your responses. After doing so, you can draw definite conclusions regarding things like which product your audience finds most useful.

A sample Twitter poll question would be “Which of our coffee flavors do you feel are the most appealing first thing in the morning?” In addition to functioning as a research tool, Twitter polls facilitate the relationship-building process by getting you engaged with your audience.

Another great benefit of the Twitter poll is that prospects may intentionally or accidentally come across the survey and thereby learn more about your brand!

Oh, and this concept can be applied to other platforms/channels, like, say, Facebook. The sky is the limit on your creativity!

Thank for the insightful strategies Deborah!
I think SEO in 2017 is completely content driven and content marketing is something one shouldn’t miss out at any cost. It’s all about providing users the best content that solves their problem.

    • Deborah Anderson Jun 15, 2017 @ 3:18

So true, Anish! It almost seems odd to me that there was a time when the acronym, “SEO,” was so new that that was all it meant. I guess we didn’t quite know what we were doing yet, eh? 🙂 -Deborah

  • Maria Jun 12, 2017 @ 22:29

Great article! I haven’t tried twitter polls before, but now I’m wondering why. Seems like a great tool to increase engagement with followers as well as increase brand visibility.

    • Deborah Anderson Jun 15, 2017 @ 3:16

Maria, Thanks for your feedback. Yes, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if the thing (for lack of any other term) that you are adding or doing adds engagement to your social media activities/posts or your blog or whatever you are focusing on at that moment. So, yes, if a poll can get some actual human interaction and engagement, go for it! Be sure to let us know how it works out for you 🙂 -Deborah

  • Robin Jun 18, 2017 @ 3:13

Hire an seo experts for blog commenting

    • Deborah Anderson Jun 18, 2017 @ 4:18

Robin, while I agree that that is an idea to consider, I would not personally do that. Why? I feel that that takes the “personal touch” out of it, and for me, blog commenting is a personal, relational thing. For some, it becomes necessary, by mere quantity vs number of hours, to hire a virtual assistant to help with blog commenting, but even in that situation, the hope is that the virtual assistant continues with the relational aspect. I would rather see the focus on the people than the technical. But that is me. -Deborah

  • Danish Dec 20, 2018 @ 4:07

In this generation, all people know the above write. You have to need to write something different and unique point.
    But I appreciate your article.

    • Deborah Anderson Dec 20, 2018 @ 5:44

From the people I have come across, no, we cannot assume that they all know the above, and henceforth, the article exists, by my choice, on my blog. As far as the unique point, yes, I have articles that address a unique point, again, according to my choice. Thank you for your disclosure of the appreciation of the article. I do appreciate those words. And you may want to check the grammar, as in “right” instead of “write” in the particular context of its first usage in your first sentence. I would not normally point that out, but since we are pointing things out to each other, I thought I would play the game as well 🙂 -Deborah

  • Dixit Dec 31, 2018 @ 6:12

    Hi
Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us, It is really helping me promote my content on the internet. Here, I would like to add one more strategy which is SEO.

    • Deborah Anderson Dec 31, 2018 @ 7:41

Dixit, thank you for your kind words. Yes, SEO is very important. SEO is a topic in and of itself and a series of articles in and of itself LOL Great point, though, I’ll give you that. Part of the reason it doesn’t make the list is because of the outward focus on marketing and strengthening the presence in a way that was noticeable by humans in a simple way, meaning someone could see a post on social media but not necessarily “see” what is done behind-the-scenes on SEO. In comparison, SEO is a technique/method for gaining traffic to your site. Same outcome, different category. SEO does strengthen one’s online presence but not in the simple method, in the same way that these others do. But, I fear explaining this may take another article, and the differentiation is not that important. All of these methods are important and deserve more attention than their discussion of differentiation deserves LOL -Deborah

  • Cristina Jan 5, 2019 @ 13:50

    Hi Deborah,

Great article! I have been interested in online marketing for a while now and it amazes me how many people still don’t understand the value of content and social media.

Between 2016 and 2017 I was able to make over £3,000 with my solo music project, by following some marketing strategies, with focus on social media.

I know it does not sound like a lot of money in 1 year but believe me if I say that it actually is in the “broke musician” industry 😀

    Cristina

    • Deborah Anderson Jan 5, 2019 @ 14:28

      Cristina,

That IS a lot of money and good for you! Congratulations, especially in the “broke musician” industry. I understand that industry, being a Jazz singer myself 🙂

      -Deborah 😉

  • Adelina Adell Jan 7, 2019 @ 19:47

You are right. But in the running world, you should be the first priority on content marketing. There is no other choice to avoid it. Many marketers already say “Content is king”.

    • Deborah Anderson Jan 7, 2019 @ 20:29

Good point, Adelina. Yes, content marketing is extremely important and one that can get you through those hard times. Believe me… been there, done that. -Deborah

  • Marvin Hanson Jan 18, 2019 @ 1:51

Great read! I’ve read content marketing adds a lot of value to someone’s website, but what’s your take on link building? What are your tips for new websites that are starting fresh against competitions with established backlink portfolio?

    • Deborah Anderson Jan 18, 2019 @ 2:25

My first tip is that you need to understand that it may take time. Yes, there is the possibility of an “overnight success” even in link building, but do not set out to expect it. Realize that it is about consistency and diligent work. Be patient with the work and with yourself. That is the first step. Then, learn, learn, learn. Be the best that you can be at link building. And, that includes visiting sites like ours 🙂 Thank you for your kind words, Marvin. See you back here soon. -Deborah

Well, I won’t say that Online Reputation Management is a simple internet marketing strategy because, at times where people make a decision based on the online reviews of a business, ORM is a tough marketing strategy.

    • Deborah Anderson Sep 27, 2019 @ 0:21

True, the process of ORM would be very challenging, especially in the area of success. The simplicity comes in more in the area of keeping track of the four strategies, like naming them. Also, while I agree with you on the ORM aspect, others may find another strategy easier and another one yet more difficult. But, the list is still the list, as it relates to this particular article.

    • Deborah Anderson Nov 2, 2019 @ 8:50

Oh, I hear ya, Costas. ORM is one of the more challenging techniques (to get it “right” and “effective”), but it is worth the time to learn how to get it right and to do it consistently. Oh, and you are very welcome 🙂

  • Deon Christie Nov 3, 2019 @ 2:10

Outstanding post, well done and thanks for the hard work. Online reputation is crucial to success but it also requires maximum effort. As for content marketing, but more specifically YouTube Videos. I recently discovered a really great video creation tool called Lumen5. With which one can easily turn blog posts into high definition YouTube videos. And for social media consistency there is Buffer and Tailwind. Although most major social networks do provide the option to schedule posts. A lot more work though without automation tools.

    • Deborah Anderson Nov 3, 2019 @ 3:59

Wow – great tips, Deon. Yes, if you are looking at ROI (return on investment), you can get more bang for your buck with other options, even though ORM (online reputation) is important. You are correct, ORM takes maximum effort. And, BTW, I am a huge fan of video. 🙂 I am a videographer, as you probably already know. Thanks again, for sharing! -Deborah
