Social Media Infographic Shows Organic Search Results
What is it that increases the organic search listings? The awesome team at TastyPlacement took extensive time to research the answer to that question and this social media infographic demonstrates those results.
With six similar web sites (one being the “control” web site) and different cities, TastyPlacement set out to test different strategies. They were not random in their approach, but rather used defined metrics. But, at the same time, they used “ordinary people” like you and me as the audience that participated in the social media viral test case. They solicited help from friends, family, associates, in the same way that you or I would do with our endeavors.
In each case (Facebook, Google+, Twitter), TastyPlacement determined a certain metric (i.e. number of shares, etc.) to reach and then measured the organic search results. The control case had no social media activity at all, to use as a comparison.
Google Is Ahead
Not really surprisingly, the Google+ votes were very helpful in defining these Google organic results. Interestingly, Twitter did not fair as well, at the bottom of the list. See for yourself, in the social media infographic, above.
So, does this affect how you will move forward in your social media strategy?
Truly an interesting info-graphic if I may so myself. Especially the conclusion at the end of the info-graphic. Just comes to show – Google+ does still have a lot of weight when it comes to social signals – despite what some critics are saying.
Truly it does make sense that Google has weight with itself and should not be discounted for those desiring a good Google PR and search results. Good point.

I know. You all know how much I love Twitter, so that was a sad statistic, but hey, it just means more party time with Google, in addition to Twitter ;D
Great infographic, I can Google+ taking the lead. But on my site, I get more traffic from StumbleUpon, Twitter, and Facebook. But my Google+ is slowly going up. But I think the lower traffic is from Google+ is only because my followers are a lot smaller on Google+ than on Twitter.
That makes a lot of sense, James. I think the study showed a great overall case study, but there are going to be one-offs and different scenarios and situations for all of us. After all, doesn’t it come down to audience? If your audience is on Twitter or Facebook or StumbleUpon, that that is where you want to be, or at least you don’t want to discontinue those efforts any time soon. Good job!
